Jacaranda is a South American tree that's traditionally-associated with love, death, and rebirth. A common ornamental tree in Australia and South Africa, in both countries it's associated with end-of-year university exam periods, giving it associations with wisdom, luck, and educational endeavours. It's also associated with hope and resilience in South Africa, the spirit world and ancestral communication for the Shona people of Zimbabwe, and generally with love, romance, and beauty.
